Rev Colin Burcombe

BSc BD MTh

Colin has been lecturing in Union Theological College since 2002 when he taught the introductory Hebrew module while Professor Taylor served with the Territorial Army in Afghanistan.

His distinctive contribution has been the production of cds and digital downloads to facilitate the learning of the Hebrew alphabet and vocabulary. Since  completing his MTh, Colin has also been involved in teaching Old Testament modules, especially on the subject of biblical prophecy.

Colin's MTh was on "The Theological Unity of the Book of the Twelve" and he is currently working on a PhD, looking at how John Calvin expounded the person and work of Christ in Zechariah. His research interests include the use of the Old Testament by the New Testament and the use of typology.

He has been serving as Minister in Mersey Street Presbyterian Church in East Belfast since 2003. His college involvement and church life inter-connect and each fuels and adds vitality to the other.

He is married to Anna and together they have five young children – Julia, Jessica, Noah, Lily and Asher. Asher is Hebrew for happy or blessed.

Apart from spending time with his family, Colin enjoys reading, sudoku and bargain-hunting.
