I have taught courses in all theological disciplines to diploma level and in Practical Theology, Missiology, New Testament and Systematic Theology to degree level. As Professor of Practical Theology, I currently teach five of the seventeen courses offered by the department.

I regularly supervise undergraduate Dissertations and Research Projects as well as postgraduates at both Masters and Doctoral levels.

For some years I have been a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy

Areas of special interest

My three areas of special interest are grass-roots theological teaching, especially with respect to popular culture; exploring the interface between Biblical Studies and Practical Theology and developing a coherent theological approach to sport.

Personal interests or hobbies

I enjoy playing extremely bad golf, cooking, reading detective novels, contributing to various online discussion forums and watching trash television (current favourites are ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’ and ‘Total Divas’ (feel free to ask me why)). I am a season ticket holder at Ravenhill (oops, Kingspan stadium) and try to follow the Northern Ireland football team to one away game every year.

With my wife and two adult daughters, I try to be the best disciple of Jesus Christ that I can be.
