Postgraduate Diploma in Ministry

Postgraduate Diploma in Ministry (PGDipMin)

This is the pathway of training laid down by the Presbyterian Church in Ireland for students who are preparing for the ordained ministry. It is normal for students who do not already have a theological degree to study for the Diploma while also undertaking undergraduate theological studies, either through QUB or the Presbyterian Theological Faculty, Ireland. The pathway normally requires three years of study and the Postgraduate Diploma in Ministry is awarded by the PTFI to those who satisfactorily complete the course.

Students who are preparing for ministry in other denominations, or for other forms of Christian work and ministry, may also apply to become students for this PG Dip Min. Anyone interested in pursuing this pathway should contact the Principal or the Dean of Ministerial Studies and Development.

Some Presbyterian students obtain a degree in Theology at other recognised colleges and then come to Union for a final year. (They are often affectionately known as “returnees”.) A one year Postgraduate Certificate in Ministry (PG Cert Min) is available for those in this category.
