Applying for Postgraduate Study

The application process for postgraduate study at Union Theological College has two parts to it.

You have to gain admission to the Queen’s University postgraduate programme. This is done by applying online through the university’s website. Details about the MTh and PhD programmes may be found at the links provided below. Queen’s University scrutinises all applications to ensure that all prospective postgraduate student meet minimum academic requirements. Union Theological College can only offer supervision once this process has been completed. However, before you apply formally, you need to identify your field of research and your supervisor; this information needs to be included in the online application form. This is where the second part of the application process becomes important.

In order to submit a formal application to the Queen’s University of Belfast, it is important to identify a precise area of study and a suitable supervisor. This may be done informally by contacting appropriate academic staff in Union Theological College (see staff web pages for email links). Academic staff provide supervision for both MTh and PhD degrees. Staff are willing to meet or correspond with prospective students to discuss their field of study and to guide them regarding the application process.
