Equipping Christians for ministry
and mission in today's world
Welcome to the Union

Union CollegeThe College was opened on 4 December 1853 and became popularly known as ‘Assembly’s College’, in honour of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland.

A second Irish Presbyterian College, Magee College, was opened in 1865 in Londonderry.

The two Colleges amalgamated within the Belfast building in 1978 and under a new name; the Union Theological College.

The College underwent a major renovation in 2003 at a cost in excess of £2M and work on a further extension will commence in 2008.

Union College has a tradition of academic excellence and practical training stretching back over 150 years. Today's teaching takes place in superb modern facilities as we seek to engage Theology with the issues that face us in the contemporary world.
