Professor Gordon Campbell was appointed to the chair of New Testament Studies in 2007. Born in East Belfast, he attended Royal Belfast Academical Institution before studying (QUB) and then teaching Modern Languages. Following theological studies, and ministry in South Belfast, he spent 16 years in France – half as a minister of the Eglise Réformée de France, in Cognac and Marseilles, and the other half teaching New Testament in the Faculté Libre de Théologie Réformée in Aix-en-Provence, where he also served briefly as Principal. His special interest is the Book of Revelation, which was the subject of his PhD (2002). As well as all things French, Gordon is enthusiastic about music. He is married to Sandra and they have four children, Aimée, Myriam, Stuart and Marc.
