Professor Laurence Kirkpatrick is a native of Carrickfergus and attended Methodist College, Belfast, before studying Ancient History and then Theology at Queen's University. His PhD from Glasgow University investigated the baptismal controversies in the North African Church. He was minister of Muckamore Presbyterian Church for 12 years before coming to Union College in 1996. Professor Kirkpatrick has published books on Irish Presbyterianism and mission to China. He has wide administrative experience of academic advisement and course development and is currently Chair of the Systematic Theology and Church History Board of the Queen’s University Institute of Theology. His main research interests include; the Early Church era, Irish History, Modern Missions and the First World War. |
