The key function of Union College is the preparation and training of students for the ordained ministry of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland (PCI).
Theology offers students the opportunity to explore the breadth of theological thinking, both past and present, and specialise in any area of Theology (Biblical Studies, Systematics, Church History, Practical Theology) or pursue any theme of particular theological interest.
This is the pathway of training laid down by the Presbyterian Church in Ireland for students who are preparing for the ordained ministry. It is normal for students who do not already have a theological degree to study for the Diploma while also undertaking theological studies, either through QUB or the Presbyterian Theological Faculty, Ireland.
Union Theological College offers a Graduate Diploma in Youth Ministry to existing undergraduate students (and to recent graduates who meet the requirements). The College hopes to make this Diploma available on a wider basis in the near future (particularly to existing Youth Pastors on an “in–service” basis).
