Union College Faculty is very pleased to welcome another new colleague to the team, as Dr Stephen Moore begins work this month as Lecturer in Old Testament. This appointment will bring consolidation to teaching and research in the area of Biblical Studies, with Stephen’s expertise complementing that of other colleagues. After studying law as an undergraduate, followed by a short period of legal practice, Stephen studied Theology and Semitic languages in London. He then specialised in Assyriology - the study of the languages and literature of Mesopotamia - in which he completed his PhD (Leiden, NL).
Stephen says: “It is an exciting time to be joining the team at Union College and I look forward to contributing to the teaching of Hebrew and Old Testament across all programmes, including the new BA to begin from September 2022.”
Stephen is an Irish Presbyterian and grew up in Hazelbank congregation, Coleraine. Until moving with his family to N. Ireland, to take up this post at Union, Stephen was lecturer in Hebrew and Old Testament at another “Union”: Union School of Theology, in Wales.
