As a Dutch student I have really enjoyed my time studying at Union and living in Belfast. I have been studying on the Erasmus programme. It has been a time for me to grow in academic skills to study the life and theology of Jonathan Edwards. Also on a personal level it has really been a fruitful time to be involved in the community of Stranmillis Evangelical Presbyterian Church. I am really thankful for the endeavours of the people in this church, the students with whom I lived on the third floor in Union, and the staff of Union, to make me feel at home. And I have to admit that, though I felt uprooted from my life in the Netherlands, you all have succeeded in making Northern Ireland my second home!
As a ministry student it has really been a pleasure to discover Jonathan Edwards’ theology and heart for the church of Jesus Christ. When I am back in the Netherlands I hope to write an applicable master-dissertation about Jonathan Edwards’ biblical interpretation. I am convinced that he has a lot to offer to the church today to keep being faithful to the living voice of God in the Bible. To grow in understanding and try to appropriate Edwards’ theology, I am looking forward to keep in touch with Union. I am persuaded that all the students at Union are really blessed with the professional and faithful teaching of their professors.
Wish you all the best and God’s blessing in Christ,
