Following a Higher Education Review by the Quality Assurance Agency in May 2019, Union College is following up on recommendations made by the review team. These include a revision of the governance structure of the College and identifying clearer lines of reporting for all matters of academic oversight. A significant number of policies have been revised, and steps have been taken to ensure that both students and external experts have input into the College’s strategic decisions. All of this means that the College’s operations and work are in line with the standards that apply across all higher education institutions in the UK.
The College has listened carefully to what students have had to say about their experience of studying at Union, and following last year’s excellent report from the National Student Survey about student satisfaction, it is seeking to build on that strong position. The new online programmes are attracting interest from students from various parts of the world and are extending the reach of the College’s work. The College’s Annual Report and the QAA Action Plan contain details of the significant steps that are being taken during 2019-20.
