Stafford Carson is a graduate of University of Ulster, Westminster Theological Seminary, Philadelphia, and Queen’s University, Belfast. He trained for Christian ministry at Union Theological College, Belfast and served in three Irish Presbyterian charges: Kells and Eskylane (1984–90), Carnmoney (1990–2000), and First Presbyterian Church, Portadown (2005–2013. From 2000–05 he was Executive Vice–President at Westminster Seminary and from 2013–2020 he was Executive Principal of Union Theological College and Professor of Ministry. He was Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland in 2009–2010. He retired in December 2020 but continues as a member of the adjunct faculty at both Westminster Seminary and Union College, teaching courses in Pastoral Theology, Preaching, and Ministry Formation. He is a member of Tearfund’s Theology Committee. Married to Patricia, they have three grown–up children and two grandchildren. He enjoys walking, cycling, and supporting Ulster Rugby.
