Professor Michael McClenahan was born and received his early education in Northern Ireland. He holds degrees from the University of Oxford in Jurisprudence (St John’s College) and Theology (Exeter College). During his doctoral studies at the University of Oxford he pursued research at Yale University (2004–2006) and was a Graduate Research Student at Yale Divinity School, a Fellow of the Jonathan Edwards Centre at Yale University and a Graduate Fellow of Jonathan Edwards College.
On completion of his doctoral studies he was licentiate assistant minister in Greenwell Street Presbyterian Church (2007–2010) and subsequently minister of Knappagh & Lislooney Presbyterian Churches (2011–2015) and Stated Supply minister in Vinecash Presbyterian Church. He lectured in Christian doctrine for a number of years at the Cornhill Training Course in Belfast.
Professor McClenahan is currently working on aspects of the theology of Jonathan Edwards. He is contributing editor for www.kairosjournal.org and www.biblemesh.com. He is an associate editor of the forthcoming Storyline Bible with Zondervan (2019).
