All postgraduate degree pathways are validated by the Presbyterian Theological Faculty, Ireland and the undergraduate pathway is validated by St Mary’s University, Twickenham. Here you’ll find out which course of study may be most appropriate for you.
This programme welcomes students from all backgrounds to study Christian theology. Students will explore and engage with key areas of theology such as Biblical Studies, Systematic Theology, Church History, and Practical Theology.

The core modules are Old Testament Prophetic Texts, Synoptic Gospels and Acts, Pauline Theology, Reformation Theology: Past Present,Present and Future, Reformed Catholic Dogmatics, Westminster Confession of Faith, and Presbyterian Polity. There is also a dissertation / research project. Students study one module per semester over three years, and classes are limited to one day each week.

To earn a PhD, students must write a 80,000 word thesis on a topic defined by their research proposal under the guidance of a relevant faculty member. PhD students undertake research on their own topics, working closely with their supervisors to write their theses. Staff at Union College have a long history of supervising successfully PhD theses in a wide range of theological areas. If you are interested in doctoral research please make initial informal contact with the faculty member responsible for your proposed area of work. There are no residential requirements for the PhD programme.
